Pho3nix JX FAQS
How does the live recognition work?
Starting on May 1st each year, the system resets for the new Pho3nix JX season. This means that any Pho3nix JX logos you see in Swim Central will disappear until the swimmer achieves Pho3nix JX times for that season.
When your child earns a Pho3nix JX Award, you will receive an email notification. However, keep in mind that you will only get this email once for each award; you won’t receive an email every time your child achieves a time in that award level. The Pho3nix JX certificate will also be added to your child's document library in Swim Central.
If your child achieves a higher Pho3nix JX Award, you will receive a new email to notify you of the new level, and a new Pho3nix JX certificate will be uploaded to their document library as well.
How do I register for the Pho3nix JX Program?
No registration is required for the Junior Excellence (Pho3nix JX) Program. All results are calculated by Swimming Australia automatically using swim meet results uploaded and verified by clubs, regions, districts and state associations into Swim Central.
How do I qualify for the Australian Pho3nix JX program?
The Pho3nix JX program will automatically recognise performances of competitive swimmers aged between 9-13 years old based on the times they swim and their age when they achieve the award. Awards range from gold, silver, bronze or blue standard.
Qualifying for the program is simple, swimmers just need to be a member of an Australian swimming club and achieve a qualifying time at an approved meet. To find out what events are approved, please contact your State/Territory office or refer to the relevant competition’s flyer.
Can I achieve the times in a short course (25m) or long course (50m) swimming pool?
Swimmers who are 9 and 10 years old can achieve qualifying times in both short course and long course pools. However, swimmers aged 11 to 13 can only qualify in long course pools. This approach is designed to encourage young swimmers to develop their skills and motivate them to make the transition to long course swimming, helping them advance in their swimming careers.
Can I use relay splits as a qualifying time?
Relay splits including lead off times will not be recognised in the Pho3nix JX program, only individual swims will qualify.
How do I know which swim meets are approved?
Approved swim meets are competitions that meet the basic setup and technical official requirements. The organisation hosting the swim meet is responsible for ensuring that these requirements are fulfilled, as well as accurately recording and uploading the swimmers' times into the Swim Central results database.
If you want to know which events are approved, you can either contact your State or Territory office or check the flyer for the specific competition. It's important to note that results from School Sports Swimming do not qualify for the Pho3nix JX program.
What if I’m registered as a multi-class swimmer?
Pho3nix JX recognition will be based on the Multi Class Point Score (MCPS) system. This system is designed according to world record (WR) times for each classification and is updated every year. The world record is assigned 1000 points, and swimmers receive incremental point scores for times that are above or below this record.
To be eligible for Pho3nix JX recognition, swimmers must have a current classification. The results that qualify will be included in the overall Pho3nix JX results list. You can compare your MCPS against the Pho3nix JX multiclass criteria available on the website.

Why is my Pho3nix JX result listed against my old club?
Your Pho3nix JX result will be listed against the club you were swimming for when you achieved your Pho3nix JX time. You may have changed clubs throughout the Pho3nix JX qualifying period, however your Pho3nix JX result will be listed as the club you were swimming for at the time of achieving your Pho3nix JX standard.
