U18 Swim Coach Account Set Up
Who is this guide for?
This guide is for parents or guardians of a young person (16–17 years) who is starting their swim coaching journey, and for young people who need their own independent Swim Central account to enrol in learning or activate their Australian Swim Coach Licence.
Why is an independent account required?
Young people who begin coaching or access coach education are required have their own Swim Central account. A parent-managed profile cannot be used for learning, licencing, or logging into the coach system. Swimming Australia has robust processes in place to safely graduate accounts, ensuring that the transition protects the privacy and wellbeing of children and young people. Graduating the account also ensures the young person can enrol in coaching courses, receive learning recognition, activate their Australian Swim Coach Licence, and manage their own details safely and independently.
How does it work?
-
Step 1 - Parent/Guardian emails the SA Coach Development Team
To start the process, please (as the parent/guardian) email the SA Coach Development Team and request that the young person be “graduated” from their parent account. The email must include parent/guardian email (primary account holder); young person’s full name; young person’s date of birth; young person’s new personal email address (this will become their login). Please double-check all details to avoid delays. Email: coaching@swimming.org.au
-
Step 2 - Confirmation email sent to you
Once the account has been graduated, Swimming Australia will send a confirmation email containing the young person’s full name, date of birth, their new Swim Central login email, and a temporary password for first-time login.
-
Step 3 - Young person activates their new account
Using the details in the confirmation email, the young person will need to log in to Swim Central, verifies their new email address, and creates a secure new password. They now have full control of their own Swim Central profile.
-
Step 4 - Enrol in coaching learning and licensing
Once logged in, the young person can go to Learning & Licencing, enrol in the coaching course(s) they need, and begin their coaching pathway with their own independent account.
Conclusion
Graduating an under-18 member into their own Swim Central account is an important step in supporting their coaching journey. It ensures they can access learning, manage their licence, and participate safely and independently, supported by Swimming Australia’s strong child safeguarding processes.
