About the Seasonal Coach Licence 

Swimming Australia recognises that many clubs and programs operate seasonally or for a limited period each year. The Seasonal Coach Licence option ensures all swim coaches can remain nationally recognised, compliant, and connected under the Swimming Australia National Coaching Framework (SANCF).
Approved applicants receive a full 12-month Australian Swim Coach Licence, with uninterrupted access to SPLASH Hub, national communications, and development opportunities throughout the entire year. This discounted option has been made available via application to reduce the financial burden on clubs who have a more limited capacity to cover the annual licence renewal expenses. Having a seasonal licence means Australian Recognised Swim Coaches can stay connected year-round, despite not actively coaching on deck in the off months.

Who Is This For?

This licence option is designed for coaches operating in clubs or programs that operate for six months or fewer per year. It suits:

• Summer Season-only clubs
• Seasonal community or school-based swim programs
• Coaches who only work within the defined seasonal period and do not coach anywhere else outside it

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, coaches will be required to:

• Coach within a club or program that operates ≤ six months per year
• Only coach during this period (no coaching at any other club, school, squad or program outside these dates)
• Maintain all SANCF compliance requirements
• Provide accurate start and end dates of the club/program season
• Re-apply each year (seasonal approvals do not roll over)

Seasonal licence holders receive:

• A valid 12-month Australian Swim Coach Licence
• Year-round SPLASH Hub access
• Year-round learning, communication, and development inclusion
• Continued year-round connection to the wider coaching community

How to Apply – Steps for Coaches

Applications are to b submitted during the licence activation period – Wednesday 3^rd December 2025 – Wednesday 18^th February 2026. Processing may take up to 10 business days.

• Step 1: Complete the Online Application Form

You’ll need to provide:

• Personal details
• Club/program details
• Season start and end dates (must total ≤ six months)
• A brief description of your seasonal coaching arrangements

• Step 2 - Confirm Eligibility & Declarations

Applicants will be required to confirm that:

• The program operates for six months or fewer
• They only coach during the stated period
• They do not coach anywhere else outside the period
• All information provided is accurate

• Step 3 - Provide Club Contact for Verification

*List a club representative who can validate seasonal operation dates and coaching arrangements.

• Step 4 - Await Outcome
• Approved coaches will have a Seasonal Coach Credit Note applied to their Swim Central account.
• If declined, coaches may resubmit or provide additional evidence.

Information for Clubs

To support your coach’s application, clubs should:

• Confirm the program’s seasonal operating period (≤ six months per year)
• Be available to verify dates or provide supporting information if contacted by Swimming Australia
• Encourage all seasonal coaches to maintain ongoing compliance and complete learning via SPLASH Hub

Note: Clubs operating year-round are not eligible for seasonal classification, regardless of individual coaching patterns.
