Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security method that adds an extra layer of protection to your online accounts. Instead of just entering a password, MFA requires you to provide at least one additional piece of information to verify your identity. Think of it as a double-check to make sure you're really the person who should be accessing the account.
Why use it? Even if someone steals your password, they won't be able to access your account without the second factor, like the code from your phone or authenticator. It’s a simple and effective way to protect your online information from hackers.
To keep Swim Central secure we have implemented MFA/2FA using an Authenticator (like Google Authenticator) or SMS.
What changes?
The only thing that changes when using Swim Central will be setting up your MFA. This is done after you log in as per normal.
If you require any assistance or are locked out please contact Support@swimming.org.au
1. Log in to Swim Central
2. To enable MFA navigate to your profile > View Profile and enter your pin if required
3. Select 'Edit Account' and click on 'Change Multi-factor Settings'
4. Tick 'Enable multi-factor log in' and select 'Update'
5. It will ask you to choose which MFA option you want to setup.
6. Select 'Setup Authenticator' or 'Setup Phone Number'
7. If you wish to use email click on 'Update' and next time you log in you will be prompted to have a
One-Time Passcode sent to an email
Send SMS
1. Click on 'Setup Phone Number', enter your mobile number in the provided field, and then click 'Send' to proceed.
2. Enter the code sent to your device and click 'Link'. Your mobile number has now been linked and updated under your profile if required.
3. Select 'Return to Account Management' and click on 'Return to Portal' and you should be now signed in successfully.
The next time you need to enter your MFA code, typically after 24 hours or when using a new browser/device, you’ll only be prompted to enter the code. The code will be sent immediately after you click 'Send SMS', and once entered, you’ll be logged in successfully. If you’ve selected Trust this browser for 24 hours, you won’t need to use another MFA code on that browser within the next 24 hours.
Authenticator App
To use this option please see the next section to install Google Authenticator on to your device. Once it is installed and you have logged in, choose Authenticator App and click proceed. You will see the following:
